I love Anne, but really dislike the spelling Ann. I feel the opposite as you, I think Anne looks better/prettier -- much, much more so.
(ETA... As Anne of Green Gables herself said about the spelling: "Oh, it makes such a difference. It looks so much nicer. When you hear a name pronounced can't you always see it in your mind, just as if it was printed out? I can; and A-n-n looks dreadful, but A-n-n-e looks so much more distinguished." I agree wholeheartedly! ;) )
I don't think I know anyone with the first name of Anne/Ann. I know some people with it as a middle name, from young to old.
