Help[Opinions] Isabel.
I really, really like the name. I was put off it because I knew so many little girls with the name. My niece went to preschool with four of them and her preschool was just 50 kids, total. It especially bothered me with the added popularity of Isabella.
Recently, though, it's really started to grow on me. I'm in an area where it's a lot less common, not to mention its' overall popularity is dying down. There are also some really cool namesakes with the name.
My only two concerns are that everyone would try to spell it Isabelle, which I cannot stand; and that they would call her Belle or Izzy. The latter doesn't concern me too much, though.
So WDYT? I'm currently liking Isabel Cecily, despite it's very "now" feeling.

I absolutely love Isabel. It's gorgeous, sophisticated, mature and classy and despite current popularity I find it very timeless.
Isabel would be my default spelling, not Isabelle, but it's pretty easy to correct people. Isabel Cecily really doesn't flow well to me, though I can't exactly figure out why.

Pretty name as such, but personally I get put off by anything too popular. It might become dated. I don't think it's so nice, from this point of view, to have a name whose popularity has just died down. Also, it doesn't seem to fit with your usual naming style, as it's a bit "princessy". But that's not necessarily a problem.

And it's the most beautiful six-day old baby you have ever met. Ever since our friend used it for his daughter I've had it in my head. I knew a woman with the name as well - she was far from princessy.
We'll see, I doubt if it will stick around and my criteria for even thinking of using a name is that it must have been a favorite for at least two years.

Isabel is great name! It's one of my favorites as well. Isabel Cecily sounds beautiful.

Isabel is lovely and I like Isabel Cecily but I do think that it's way too popular and therefore wouldn't use it. At least you don't live in Germany (it has been popular here since the early 80s and is now a bit out of style, the same of what I think will happen in the USA. It will go out of style in the next 10 or 15 years and still be classic but sound a bit outdated like Susan for example). In Germany the spellings Isabel, Isabell and Isabelle are equally common so it's quite difficult. Isabell is the German spelling. The most popular nicknames are Isi (rhymes with easy hehe) and Isa. We pronounce Isobel and Isabel differently so there wouldn't be a problem.
I love Isobel pronounced EE-so-bel. Isabelle is alright but I know what you mean as I love Annabel but can't stand Annabelle. Isabeau would be a possibilty or just Cecily Isabel which is lovely.
Oh and according to this site Isabelle is actually more common that Isabel (in the USA).

I like both Isabel and Isobel, slightly prefering Isobel, but I'm a little turned off by not just the populartiy, but the 3 realatively common spellings I'm aware of, Isabelle, Isabel, and Isobel. The more spelling variations, the greater the likelihood the name will be misspelled. But it is a great name. I much prefer it of the flowery Isabella.
But I have to agree that my least favorite spelling is Isabelle, probabaly the most popular spelling. Isabelle, in addition to looking similar to Isabella, just looks more hick-ish to me.

Isabel Cecily is very pretty, though Cecily Isabel would be prettier. It's a very soft-feeling name, either way.

Have you heard the song Isabelle by Gregory and the Hawk? I've been listening to it (and "Boats and Birds") a lot in the past few days and it's making me really warm up to the name. (Not the spelling, though. Isabel is lovely and intriguing and medieval-feeling, Isabelle is froofy.)

Isabel is a lovely name, very pretty. Cecily is nms, I just really can't stand the way it looks and sounds. I am one of those people that prefers Isabelle "Belle" to Isabel "Izzy", but that's because I love Belle. Each way is lovely imo though.

Isabel/Isabelle/Isabella etc. is too common. I don't think it makes much difference if it is less common in your area, because who's to say you/she will stay in that area your/her whole life?
I think there are tons of names that are at least as pretty that are uncommon, it just seems to me like a waste to use a popular one.

I like Isabel. True, she would have to spell it because there's also Isabelle and Isobel (the latter is actually my favorite spelling). But at least it's a legitimate spelling, unlike all those kids out there having to spell their name because it's misspelled.
Isabel Cecily is nice. I'd like Isabel Cecilia better. Cecily just seems incomplete or nicknamey to me.

I'm not sure where in the US it would fly. Everyone would assume that it was a kreativ spelling and she would spend her entire life correcting people.

I don't get why. Although me not understanding people is defintely nothing new. That would make me want to spell it that way even more. That way you can explain to people that it's a legitimate spelling and they can eat their hat.

But having grown up with a name people can't seem to spell - despite the fact that it's a commonly used WORD - I wouldn't want to do that to my daughter. :-D

I love Isabel, despite the fact Isabella is very popular in my area. I also dislike the spelling Isabelle - the extra letters at the end take away from how pretty it is, IMO. Isabel Cecily is very pretty. :) You might also like:

I love love love love Isabel almost shortlisting it. It feels incredibly stately and medieval. I also like Isabella and nicknames Izzy and Bella. But Isabel oh Isabel. The thing that concerns be about it is that it will be dated later, at around the same time any hypothetical Isabel would be produced
I don't see anything 'now' about Cecily. The combo feels a little dry for some reason - maybe it's Spanish + English feel that's putting me off - but it's very nice. I might rather Isabel Claudia or something more matched - ooh, or Claudia Isabel, Isabel bright and pretty and unexpected as a middle name.

Claudia Isabel is lovely
I'm not too fond of Claudia, but the idea of using Isabel in the middle spot is a great idea.
Now I just need to find the right name. Judith Isabel is flat. Cecilia Isabel doesn't flow. Liora Isabel is just weird.
