Help[Opinions] Gwendolyn, Ceridwen, and Anwen
I've liked the name Gwendolyn for a long time. It sounds sophisticated and is different enough without being ridiculous. What are your thoughts on this name? I also like the other Welsh names Ceridwen and Anwen. Do you think Ceridwen and Anwen would cause pronunciation problems for the kids when they got older?

Welsh names are very beautiful, I think. They have unique sounds to them, and their meanings are interesting. I love the name Gwendolyn. Names that begin with "Gwen" or "Gwyn" are a bit common, but they're lovely nonetheless.
Ceridwen is lovely, too. I would name my child a goddess of poetry! It also sounds somewhat similar (I think) to "cariad", which is Welsh for "love".
Anwen is really cute. I don't think there would be much pronunciation trouble, though. Welsh vowels are fairly simple, and are quite close to English. The only weird part is that some consonant letters count for vowels, such as "w", which is the equivalent of the English "oo", or "u" being pronounced like "i".

I love Gwendolyn, but only spelled Gwendolen. It has a beautiful sound and "feel" to it - and when spelled Gwendolen, it also has a beautiful look.
Ceridwen and Anwen are also great names. I could see Ceridwen possibly having some pronunciation issues, but not so many that it would stop me from using it if I loved it enough.

I like Gwendolyn, but I prefer the spelling Gwendolen.

I think Gwendolen (spelled like that) is more authentic than the -yn and -ine versions, both of which were influenced by other names' spellings. The name, however spelled, is very beautiful and romantic-sounding.
The thing about the Welsh c is that it's hard, but Ceridwen will inevitably encounter the s assumption throughout life, and always be correcting people. That's something to consider. Ceri makes a cute nn.
Anwen is a "can take it or leave it" name for me - I love Angharad, Arianwen, Bronwen, Delyth (with its nn Del), Eleri, Ffion, and Rhiannon.

I'm really torn with Gwendolyn, I like it but I don't at the same time.
I do, however, absolutely love Anwen.I think with almost all Celtic names there is going to be a pronunciation issue on first meeting but that shouldn't put you off, it happens with heaps of names.

Im not so sure on Anwen, i wouldnt know how to pronounce it.
