[Opinions] Re: Temperance..
Nancy is so far removed from Temperance that I can't understand why you would use Temperance if you plan to call her Nancy. They sound so completely different. What would be the point?I have heard of Tempe, pronounced Temp-ee, with a long E sound at the end, as a nickname for Temperance. There is a local legend where I grew up, of a girl named Tempe Wicke. She lived during the Revolutionary War, and when the army (I can't remember if it was the British army or the American army) was requisitioning horses, she hid her horse in her house to prevent them from taking it. Big whoop, I never really understood why this became such a story. Anyway, Tempe's full name was Temperance. What do you think of Tempe as a nickname for Temperance?

Yes, Tempe/Tempie was the obvious choice but I don't know how I feel about it.
I thought Nancy might be a bit of a stretch!
