Help[Opinions] Harvest
A friend of mine just had a baby boy and named him Harvest. He has an older brother named Oak. Both were named after verses in the Bible describing an Oak of Righteousness and a Harvest of Righteousness. I respect the reason behind the names, but I'd love some other opinions.

She could have just as well given them really awesome Biblical names. Someone hearing "Oak" and "Harvest" would just connect them to a farm. Not righteousness.

Harvest is okay. I do like the sound, though it feels more girly to me. Oak just doesn't work for me. it's short and sounds like someone choking. I respect the reason but at the same time giving a kid a name related to righteousness seems like asking them to be self-righteous after they find out.

Too wordy. They might have picked it for a reason, but it's just so material, not to mention vaguely reminiscent of organ harvests.

I knew there was something about Harvest that was making me feel icky. Organ harvesting! I'd got as far as harvesting the dead but that didn't make sense to me.

I actually like them independent of the biblical meaning. Harvest is a good strong sturdy sound. Oak is interesting and hollow sounding and handsome. Both are fine concepts. I am not seeing the teasing Poppylena brought up.

Harvest seems feminine to me for some reason but I quite like Oak. Harvest is just weird.

I don't think they're all that bad, actually.
Although Oak probably will get some dirty comments once middle school or whatever starts. I think I'd rather see both as middle names instead.
That said, at least there's nice reasoning behind using the names, and I like the mental images the words oak and harvest conjure for me. But like I said, probably more appropriate in the MN spot.

Both names are, to put it harshly, pretty hideous. I guess there's reasoning behind it, but even that seems a bit ...eugh, I don't know. I appreciate some Biblical names are very pretty, but these aren't even names. It seems a bit extreme.
You can't ignore the fact that Oak and Harvest are really words and make rediculous names. They both sound... awful. Poor kids.

The reasoning is nice but the names are terrible.
Oak is passible, I suppose (after all Rowan is a perfectly fine name) but I can see teasing ahead (using my dirty schoolboy mind I can forsee references to logs and twigs dependent on how well-endowed he is along with 'hard/strong/stiff as a oak' etc). Harvest is just plain daft, at least though he can go by Harvey to hide it. Oak has nothing.

They are awful names. I also can respect the reason behind the names, but it doesn't detract from how horrid they are.
Oak is probably the one I'd prefer if I were forced, at knife point to choose one.
