[Opinions] Yuri and Adriana
Would this work on a boy or a girl character? I mean human or not. What do you think of Adriana whose is Leilani's mom? Suggestions are welcome.

I think it would work on a Japanese girl character. Do you know Wedding Peach ? a Japanese anime series. You can watch episodes on youtube. One of the main characters (a pretty girl with red hair and green eyes) is named Yuri. Her other name (after her transformation) is Lily.

Is Adriana a good name for Leilani's mom?

Adriana is a beautiful name! I like it better than Ariana. A mother's and daughter's name don't have to go well together. There are so many mom's named Karen who have daughters named Liliana or Nevaeh and other names that wouldn't go with Karen at all.

Yuri is a female name--I wouldn't like it for a boy. However, the term "yuri" in Japanese means lesbian hints, suggestions, and relationships in anime and manga. Well, there's more to it than that, but that's what most people think of. Use it carefully--it's still a beautiful name and it means Lily.I love the name Adriana, and it goes well with Leilani, but I would need to know about ages and time periods before I could decide about how one is the mother of the other. ^.^

really ?hehe I didn't know that. I don't know if Yuri/Lily from Wedding Peach ever had a boyfriend :P Do people in Japan still name their daughters Yuri or is the association too strong ?

Yes, it's still used.I asked my Japanese teacher and he said that Yuri is a common girl's name in Japan, and it is generally considered a beautiful name.

Yuri is a Russian boys' namecognate of George. I love it on a boy because of Yuri Bashmet.

Yuri would depend on the language and culture the character was coming from... In some European cultures, Yuri would prob'ly be a guy, but in Jpns., it's a girls name.

I like Adriana, but not Yuri because of what it refers to in Japanese.
