British singer James Morrison and his girlfriend Gill welcomed a baby girl earlier this month.
Her name is Elsie.
The couple were looking for a "Granny" name, James said, and that's how they decided upon Elsie. "We wanted to pick something that was old-fashioned," he said. "I really like it."I'm not so sure about Elsie (would have preferred Elsa), but I really, really like that they deliberately went for an old-fashioned name!Source: Celebrity Baby Blog

Hehe, my "Granny" (and that is what I called her) was named Elsie. :) I like it, but I it's a little informal for a fn, imo. I'd definitely consider using a variant to honor her, though (Elsa for a fn or Elspeth for a mn).

I love the name Elsie! It's so good that a celeb couple went for an old-fashioned name - hopefully now more oldie names will be brought into the spotlight, and we'll have more GOOD names instead of constant streams of Madisons, Jamies and Jaydens.
