I really like it. I didn't know it was a name until you mentioned it on the board before (at least, I believe it was you - well someone did!). So my first experience of Sephora was the make-up shop, but that doesn't put me off the name.
I love Omar, it just has a beautiful sound. I don't feel much one way or the other towards Taras. It depends on how you are pronouncing it. If it ended up exactly like "tar ass" then, not my thing. If the first syl were stressed, like Harris, it's nice. And of course, if the second syl (ass) were stressed, that could be bad in the US.
EDIT - Having seen the pron. for Taras in the database, it's nice as long as people get it right and don't resort to Tar Ass. But the Russian pron. does sound very Russian, and I don't know how well it would suit a child who wasn't, no Russian surname, no other Russian names in the family. In your own surroundings you can judge that best.
