Help[Opinions] Peyton....
I have fallen head over heels in love with this name... I've always thought it was nice, but I heard it on TV last night and it was just instant - I officially love it, but only as a girls name.
WDYT of the name? And also, what would you suggest as a mn? I'm thinking about Peyton Isabella...

it's sweet but way overused right now, it has no spark because it's so common among young kids. One of my work friends just named her baby RyLeigh Peyton.

Honestly, it's among my least favorite names. I see it as super masculine and surnamey. It just reminds me of football players: Peyton Manning and Walter Payton.

I knew a very drab and unfortunate girl named Peyton. She had very little going for her intellectually and she looked like a bulldog. Peyton's got to be on a certain personality to "work." I don't like it, but I can see it "working" on someone bright and charismatic and charming and upbeat and cute. On someone who is not, it is vapid, plastic, unfortunate, and quickly dated. It becomes another drab, unfortunate feature of her drab, unfortunate existence. You cannot predict if your child will not be drab and unfortunate. Do not shortlist this.

I'm so sick of surnames as fns. If they come from your own family tree, then I see the point. But otherwise it is just another plastic, trendoid, dime-a-dozen name. I just don't see it wearing well over time.
Sorry I couldn't be more up-beat. Isabella is nice, if overly used right now. For what it's worth "Peyton Isabella" flows nicely.
Could you elaborate more on why you like Peyton for a girl? I'd like to know. Is it the idea of a more masculine sounding name on a girl that you like? Is it just the sound of it, or something else that I'm missing?
ETA: Years ago, before I started doing these boards, I toyed with the idea of Kinsella for a girl. So I do get the attraction of other people's surnames, sometimes. And I still love Cameron for a boy. It's just seeing the overwhelming number of surnames used right now that bugs me. They are all starting to sound alike to me. (I just wanted to confess that.)

I can totally see where you're coming from, though I guess I just happen to like surnamey names... Although, this is the only one I like for a girl, most of my surnamey names are boys (ie. I love Jamison & Sullivan...)
As for why I like Peyton, I couldn't really say... I guess I just like the sound of it.
I think it's interesting that you find it very masculine though, both my partner and myself think that's its quite feminine and thus we'd never use it on a boy. Generally speaking - I can't stand masculine names on girls!

I totally agree with this. "Plastic" is a good word for it. :-)

Ugh.. sorry, but I absolutely hate this name in every way. I despise surnames on girls, they're so trendy.

I think Isabella is beautiful. I do not like Peyton Isabella together.
