Help[Opinions] Phillip, Berenice and Eos
Howzat for choosing three completely different names to post about at the same time.
Anyway, Phillip nn Pip is a name I am strangely drawn to at the moment. I'm not really sure why. WDYT? Combo suggestions? I was playing with Phillip Oswald, but Oswald is such a funny little name.
For Berenice, do you prefer ber-ə-NIE-see or be-re-NEE-che? I think I'm leaning toward the second, but I'm not really sure. I think Chichi would be a really sweet nn for the second. Again, combo suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Eos I like for the meaning mostly, and just how short and to-the-point it is. WDYT?
And finally, I just thought I would say that it is exactly a year today since I started posting on BtN :-D

I like your name choices, but you would really have to talk me into Eos. I would prefer her sister, Iris. I do love Greek mythology names. I plan to use one for a girl if I have another daughter.
I wasn't liking the name Berenice until I started reading the other people's comments. suddenly it reminded me of how I used to hate the name Beatrice, until I studied Dante's Inferno in college with an Italian professor. He always pronounced it "bee-uh-TREE-chay" and after a while I started to think the name is incredibly beautiful. It's amazing what a difference the pronunciation can make on a name.
BTW, I went to school with a girl named Io, also from a famous Greek myth. After getting familiar with the story, I really love the name because of what a strong character Io had to be to endure what she did and still survive in the end.

I was really stuck on Pippin nn Pip for a while, because of the Pippins and the Karls in the Carolingian dynasty around the time of Charlemagne's birth. I think of kings. Then I tried to imagine Pip on anyone I knew. My friend Jordan? Ridiculous. My orchestra director Robin (m)? Ridiculous. My theater professor Paul? ... Definitely not as ridiculous. My old history teacher? Entirely ridiculous. With reluctance I crossed it off my shortlist. I can't quite get into Philip, I wish I could. I really like Philip Oswald, a funny little name to go with another funny little name. I toyed with Pippin RUdolf, if Philip Rudolf interests you at all.
Berenice I am never sure about. It is Bare-and-icy in my only Berenice combo, Julia Berenice. There is something more dashing about Bare and eetchay though. Chichi's adorable. (I call my dog Che chichi all the time so that might explain why I think that)
Eos I tried to like and couldn't. Happens with a lot of mythology names.
