So I have a (deceased) great-aunt named Dorothy who has yet to be honored by anyone in the family. I've been trying to come up with ways to honor her since, as far as I know, she was pretty well liked. I think I've found it. I can't stand Theodora or Dorothy, but I'm LOVING Dorothea.

What do you think? Combos?

Dorothea is lovely, so much more prettier than Dorothy.

I was think of The Wizard of Oz, when i hear Dorothy.

Loving Dorothea. Not suer why since I find Dorothy a bit fusty. Like Theodora as well. Also, Thea and Dora are great nns.

I love Dorothea, and am considering it for a future daughter. She would be named after my fiance's grandmother, who was also Dorothy.

We would call her Thea, though.

I think Thea would be very pretty on its own, if it came to it. It would still honor your great-aunt Dorothy.

I agree, it's very nice on its own; however, I think it's a bit nicknamey and would rather have a longer and more "formal" name from which I could derive the nickname. Besides, I think Dorothea is absolutely great and would love to use it.

I agree

Can't stand Theodora or Dorothy, but love Dorothea. It was my grandmother's name. She was sometimes nicknamed Dot, but I prefer the nn Dora. I recently met an 11 year old Dorothea. I was thrilled!
