[Opinions] Phineas
This name has always been sort of a 'nice but not nice enough to consider' type of name for me, but lately I've been liking it more and more. For some reason I think siblings named Phineas and Barnaby would be the ultimate illustration of cool.
Do you think Phineas is too attached to Julia Roberts' son? I don't think it would bother me regardless, but I'm curious to know. Also, if anybody has any combos on hand, feel free to share them ;)

Phineas is ugly, outdated, and too celebrity-ish. It's a dumb name.
I thoroughly like Phineas and don't link Phineas to Julia aRobert's boy Phinneaus (I think that's the screwy spelling she used, could be off a bit). He goes on a off my own lists. I fear he's going to be trendy with that Finn sound he's got going. But I still like him, a lot. I think Barnaby & Phineas would be awesome brothers! (I adore Barnaby as a middle because Barney makes me think of the purple dinosaur as well as the drunk on "the Simpsons". *sigh*)
Some of the combos I had for Phineas:
Phineas Arthur
Phineas Edward/Edgar
Phineas Willem
Phineas Maxim
Phineas Morgan
Phineas Gabriel
Phineas August
Phineas Graham
Phineas George
Phineas Oliver
Phineas Henry
Phineas strikes me as a bit of a blowhard so I keep trying to pair him with something a bit stuffier and classically grounded.
Hope that helps

Have you seen the Adam Sandler movie, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck"? Phineas was the name of Dan Akroyd's character, the sergeant or captain of the fire station.
I used to think this was too much of a Hollywood trend name due to Julie Roberts. But seeing it on Dan Akroyd made it seem more usable to me, which might come across as ironic since the name was still being used in Hollywood and not even on a real person at that. However, I have never seen Julia Robert’s son, and when I heard she named her son Phineas my first reaction was that it was just another lame attempt by some self-absorbed Hollywood actress to be “different.“ But seeing Phineas on Dan Akroyd put a face to the name, if that makes any sense at all. In any event, I'm growing to like it too.

Phineas and Barnaby reminds me of P. T. Barnum, the greatest business man ever and one of my personal heroes.
I don't automatically think of Julia Roberts' son. I'm reminded of A Separate Peace, in which he was nicknamed Finny, but when my sister was reading that book, I thought Phineas was pronounced "Finny". It wasn't until Julia Roberts had her twins that I heard "Fi-ne-us" and I was like, "Hrm? No, it's Finny!"
I have a character named Phineas now and I have to force myself to pronounce it correctly each time, because he's definitely not a Finny. That was a long roundabout to say that I like a name.
Phineas Calix is sounding pretty cool right now.

Regarding Julia Roberts' son:
No.
My combo was Phineas Hugo, which still tickles me.
I go on and off it. I guess it's a GP. It's so hipster feeling that it makes me say "ehhh do not really want." And Finn.
Barnaby Barnaby Barnaby. Must add to PNL. Phineas and Barnaby would be fun; make sure Barnaby is born first though
