Love it, only for a boy :)
I can't believe I missed this post! I've been keeping up with some of the post below it and I guess I just skipped over it completely.
Anyway, I say that because I've been thinking about Shea on a boy lately as well. I started likely it because I was liking the idea of using Shay as a NN for Shannon (on a boy, of course).
I think Shea would work well as a stand alone. Though, I think I've put it on my MN list, not because I don't like it as a first name, just because there are names I am MORE in love with :-)

It really makes me think of a surname, but the sound's nice enough.
Only like it for a girl. Sounds too "soft" for a boy imo.

I dislike Shea in all its forms Che, Shae, Shay whatever. My main reason for disliking it, is that it reminds me of the word shag. Additionally, there are just too many girls out there with the name so in my opinion its far to feminine for a boy. (Off the top of my head I can think of three females called Shae / Shay).
I wish I could be more positive about it really, but can't get over the shag thing. Weird. I know.

On one hand I think it sounds very original, and on the other hand it makes me think of shea butter.
