[Opinions] Blythe
I really love the name Blythe. The problem is, I cannot find a middle name that goes with it, nothing flows! Please give me all the brilliant suggestions you can think of!
Some combos I've tried are:Blythe Miranda
Blythe Cecily
Blythe Felicity
Blythe Elise

Hey! I just had a poll up over the weekend on mns for Blythe. I almost had Miranda listed, but I changed it to Melisande. I like both equally well for a mn to Blythe. Very melodic.Blythe Felicity also crossed my mind. But because "blithe" is an adjective, it felt awkward putting a noun next to it. Plus, they both mean "happy." Blythe Cecily is top notch. I'm not a fan of Elise. Here are some of the rest of the combos from my poll:Blythe Eleanora (it won)
Blythe Wilhelmina
Blythe Alice
Blythe Linnea ("li-NAY-uh")
Blythe Philippa
Blythe Abigail
Blythe Laurentine ("lor-en-TEEN")
Blythe MorwennaOthers you might like:Blythe Matilda
Blythe Philomena
Blythe Leandra
Blythe Christabel
Blythe Virginia
Blythe Winifred
Blythe Anais ("ah-nah-EES")
Blythe Anneliese ("anna-LEE-zuh")
Blythe Evelyn (too much "y?")

after so long being "blythe" online, it feels more like a persona than a real name to me- but seeing it here is making me rethink that position. I particularly like Blythe Winifred (sounds less like a description than many others do). Still, for my own hypothetical daughter I think i'd use it as a self-honouring (doesn't that sound narcissistic? and yet men get to do it all the time) middle name. anyhow, if you're feeling that i'm encroaching on "your" name, I can change it for around here. maybe to Gilbertine :)

Blythe doesn't belong to me at all. I did five polls on Sunday asking for the best mn for the following names: Fleur, Anne, Blythe, Pearl and Wren. The people who do those polls, at least the people who write them, tend to be pretty young. I like to expose them to the idea that a fn can be one syllable and still be beautiful -- less is more. I was sorry that I couldn't also put up a poll for Nell and Tess. Blythe is terrific, but I'd never in a million years think I had any rights over it. I'd love to see it become more popular. That said, Gilbertine is the bees knees! Unless you have a copyright to it, I plan on using it in future threads when asked for combinations. Thanks!

Oh, nice going on exposing the young'uns to unfussy names :) Oddly you have my RL name on there too (it's Anne), and my g-grandma (Pearl). I'll stick to Blythe around here, just thought I'd ask as folks can get territorial about names, and I'm not really bothered. Take Gilbertine and have fun!

I forgot to mention Blythe Susannah! Is that "too cutesy?"

Blythe Susannah is great. Why would it be cutesy? It has an easy, calm feeling for me. Very nice.

this *exact* topic......was discussed last Wednesday. The thread is here: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/view.php?id=3382863&board=babyand despite my screen name, I have no suggestions to offer you. sorry!

I forgot about that thread. (Do I do that many polls? My memory is really getting bad.) I wish I had remembered because I liked some of those combos better than the ones I ran in my poll over the weekend!
