[Opinions] Sailor
WDYTO Sailor for a girl ? I'm a bit surprised it's not more popular. I mean it's so close to Taylor and Christie Brinkley has a daughter named Sailor (the other one is Alexa Ray), I like it much better than TaylorDo you prefer Taylor or Sailor ?Saylor or Sailor ?Do you think it will get popular ?Do you know anybody named Sailor or Saylor ?

I like Sailor a lot better than Taylor. I really loved the name the last time I was pregnant, I remember my mom asking me if I was going to name her Sailor because I mentioned to her how much I loved the name. Like any other name, I don't like all the crazy spellings, Saylor, Sayler, etc. They just don't look right.I don't know anyone with this name and doubt it will get popular.

I strongly prefer Taylor. The reason why it's not getting very popular (at least here in America) is probably because it's a word.(I don't know where you live, but if you google Sailor you will see what a Sailor is) Saylor may look more trendy and tacky but it is a thousand times better than Sailor will ever be. It might get popular, but it's likely to not pass the top 100. It probably won't even make the top 500. Who knows, the way naming trends are today.

but"tailor" is also a word and it sounds exactly like Taylor. So yeah I know what a sailor is but I'd rather be a sailor than a tailor. Plus there are thousands of word names from Brooke over Robin to Faith and Stone.

Well, Taylor is more common than the spelling Tailor. With the spelling Tailor, it's a word, but Taylor isn't. Same with Sailor. I don't know why people choose one spelling over another, but I guess it's the ay people are.

uhm it sounds exactly the same so it doesn't really matter in my opinion.

I agree there are plenty of other names that aare things and I like them just fine. Just because you change the spelling arround it does not always mean the meaning has changed. It's still a thing.

People use words as names all the timeIn the top 100 there is: Mason (as in, a stone mason, which is a job like a sailor)
Hunter
Chase
John (well... not really, but i read this book where the main character, John, wanted to find his father and ask him why he named him after a toilet. so it was worth mentioning, I think)Destiny
Brooke (I can't believe that's still top 100 wow. xP)
Trinity
Faith
AutumnPlus Taylor and Tyler of course, from tailor and tiler. I don't see why Sailor can't be used as a name. I'd much rather see it than Taylor... I'm sick of Taylor; I know so many and they're all the same.

I like Sailor a lot, it's a big GP for me. I much prefer it to Taylor. Sailor is better than Saylor. I don't know whether it will get overly popular, but it has a trendy feel to it regardless of whether or not it's actually popular. Only Sailor I've ever heard of is Sailor Moon lol but I don't think that counts since it's not actually her name. I think that cartoon might be the reason I like the name though lol.

I like Sailor. I don't like the alt spellings of it tho. And I hate Taylor on a boy or a girl, always have.

I don't like either. I prefer the sound of Sailor to the sound of Taylor as words go. Neither is particularly feminine. As a name it's lacking anything special, imo.
Definitely Sailor over Saylor.
As for popular, I suppose it depends on your definition of popular. I could see it making the top 1000 list for a while, but I can't imagine it being a top 100 name.
A friend of a friend used Sailor as a mn and I've seen it in BA's, but I do not personally know anyone by the name.

I think Sailor is really really tacky and it feels stripperish to me... I detest Taylor as well but this is the one time I would go for Taylor over something else.

Wow! I had never heard of this as a name but now I really like it. I also like Taylor so I really don't know which one I like better. I like it on a boy or a girl. I would Probably spell it 'Saylor' because I've always liked the spellings that were a little more unusual.
Thanks for posting! I now love this name.

I hate it, sorry. ANd Taylor is just as bad. I find all occupation names ridiculous and unappealing. If you *really* must have it, at least don't put a random "y".
