[Opinions] Cadence & Antigone
WDYT of Cadence on a boy, and Antigone for a girl or boy?ETA: I hate the story & meaning of Antigone but like the name. I recently found babies named these. Cadence was a boy :o). I am re-loving it again on one.ETA: to clarify NO I wouldn't use Antigone on a boy, I'm just ask what you think of it on one.

I know a girl named Antigony. I love how it sounds! Antigone (spelled correctly, as you did) is awesome! I wouldn't have the nerve to use it, but I'd be pleased to see it.

I like Cadence and Antigone as GIRLS names.

I like Cadence on a girl, and I actually find it pretty neat on a boy, now that I think of it. It's fair game for either IMO, being a word name and all.I can't get into the sound of Antigone on either.

Cadence - I don't like it for a boy. Bit iffy on it for a girl - sometimes I like it in a GP way.I like Antigone, for a girl only, but the story is too heartbreaking for me too use it. Oddly enough I don't feel the same prohibition about Jocasta.I studied the Theban plays in college and Antigone's story is the one that affected me most.

Antigone is 100% feminine, I can't see it on a boy at all.
I dislike Cadence, I find it sort of tacky, along the lines of Melody and Harmony.

Okay, I'm so not meant to be on the computer right now.I have no real thoughts on Cadence, it's what the gym instructor tells us we have to speed up in my cycle class. However, love Antigone, but only on a girl. I studied the play at the beginning of the year, and played with the name a bit then. Now I am doing exam revision, I'm falling in love with it all over again. As Akua Topaz said, the play is all about doing what you think is right and...oh I could ramble for a while, but as I said, I'm not meant to be on the computer right now.My combo is Rose Antigone.

I dislike Cadence for both sexes as it reminds me too much of my days in marching band.I love Antigone for girls though.

Cadence is tacky tacky tacky for either sex, I think.I love Antigone. I don't see what's wrong with the story; to me it's about doing what you know is right (i.e. honouring your brother by giving him a proper burial) rather than letting others dictate your actions. But maybe I'm not understanding the whole story; I'm just going by the little synopsis on BtN.

Basically, switch genders.I kind of like Cadence on a girl, come to think of it, but I despise of it on a boy. Antigone doesn't sound good on a girl; I don't like it.

Antigone is a female character from a Greek tragedy (I forget if it's Eschylus, Euripides or Sophocles right now). It's like wanting to use Ophelia or Juliet on a boy.

For crying out loud...I agree completely with Murasaki here.Using Antigone on a boy makes one seem ignorant. Granted, traditionally established gender rules have never bound you, Sabrina, but since Antigone is a firm part of literary and mythological (yes, Greek mythology...) tradition, it just makes you look stupid. Sorry.(It's Sophocles. I played the messenger and Ismene's understudy when my university performed it.)

um [m]I never said I'd use it on a boy. I asked what you thought of it on a girl or boy. Just because I ask about something or like it on a boy (or girl if it's the opposite)doesn't mean I'd use it actually use on one. The person Korento made me think of it on a guy, so I thought I'd ask.
Honestly? If I didn't even look it up I'd guess boy anyways it looks masculine. That's neat about how you were the understudy, and in the play. Sorry if I sounded rude, but I admit what you said kind of irked me. I felt your comment was good enough explaining how it looked ignorant due to your explination without that "stupid" comment. I get the point.

Don't misinterpret me here. I said makes you look stupid, which is a far cry from saying you are stupid. Wearing a really big ugly hat "looks stupid" but again does not make an actual judgement of your intelligence. I didn't mean to offend.Given the prn, I think it sounds more feminine anyway.
