[Opinions] Helen vs. Helena
Do you associate different personalities with these names? Do you prefer one? Would the name Helena be a burden since it has multiple pronunciations? And does one work better as a sister of Peter?

Helen is my favorite name so it gets my vote. My grandma's name is Helena and I love it to but I, like you, fear that the pronunciation could be a problem so I am going with Helen. Helen goes great with Peter!

HelenYes, Helena would be a massive burden. Living with a name with multiple pronounciations is very annoying (I know).Plus, Helena is a fairly needless elaboration, and Helen, in my eyes, exudes confidence.

Definately Helena.

It's a big dilemma. Both are gorgeous, I guess overall Helena feels "fresher" and more international, Helen a bit more dated.

Completely torn...I adore both Helena and Helen. Helen's much sweeter and more subtle, while Helena is more mysterious and sophisticated. However, I think that I prefer Helen and Peter. They seem to be better suited with each other--quiet and understated.

Helen is way sweeter and fits Peter wonderfully!I feel they are the same stylistically. I think of Peter as a very sweet sophisticated name, and Helen is too. Helena is a little to va-va-voom for me, and I always want to say hel-AY-na.

I love Helena (HEL-eh-nah) but avoid it unless you're prepared to constantly correct the pronunciation. Helen is nice too but not as nice as Helena. Both are lovely with Peter.

I have an aversion to both, but Helena sounds a bit better than Helen.

♥Helena!♥I absolutely love Helena (even with the burden of multiple pronunciations) and also Helene, but to me Helen is just so boring and dated. They both have a completely different feel to me. It may just be because I went to school with a Helen and because it was quite popular when I was growing up, whereas Helena seems fresh and romantic. I think Helena and Peter sound lovely together.
