[Opinions] Elaine... WDYT?
I keep coming back to the name Elaine. My great-aunt was named Elaine, and out of the four women in her family (I'll give family names in a post shortly), she was definitely the nicest. My dad really loved her.Do you think the name is dated? Ready for a revival? Terminally old? Cute? Ugly? Any input is appreciated. First name or middle name combos are also good. =)

Elaine is my number one name for a girl!
I think it's a pretty name that will stay pretty (without being too baby-cutesy) as the girl gets older. So yeah, I say ready for a revival :-)

I just think of Seinfeld. I wouldn't use it.

Thanks a million! You're the only one so far who's volunteered any combos! I appreciate it. Here are the ones I like/love**:Elaine Agatha -- well, I love both names, but the combo doesn't work for me
Elaine Cecilia**
Elaine Cecily
Elaine Dorothea
Elaine Mariam -- prefer Miriam, but sounds nice
Elaine Rosalind
Elaine Rosemary
Elaine Tatiana
Elaine Violetta**
Elaine Viviana
Elaine Winifred -- Winifred is a total GP for me

Personally, I love it and would consider using it if it didn't clash with our ln.It has a nice sound...in feel, it's similar, in my opinion, to Eleanor, yet less popular. And it has great literary associations.

I think it is a lovely, utterly useable name, though I preffer Elena.:0)

I like Elaine. It's my Mum's name, so I like it cause it makes me think of her, but I also like the connection it has with the poem 'The Lady of Shalott'. I personally prefer Elaine as a middle name rather than a first, as I think it's a little dated as a first name.

I really don't like the name Elaine. It's ok as a middle name, but I just couldn't ever use it. I can see where Elaina would be much prettier. I have a friend whose name is Bridget Elaine and I always thought that it fit her quite nicely. It just seems to me like a really old name.
