This name won my name battle poll and what do you think of it?

Wasn't a fan to begin with and now that it's so overdone, I like it even less (if that's possible)... Its one redeeming factor is that it's the name of a friend of mine's daughter.
If you do decide to inflict this on a child, please (for the child's sake) pair it w/ something less overdone.

It's beautiful, historic, classic and along with other mega-popular classics such as Isabella it's a wonderful antidote to rivals such as Madison amd Mikayla! It will still be classic when those are dated and an embarrassment!

Love love LOVE Sophia, it's so pretty and I can see it on a female of any age. :)

I like it but it's way too common. It's number one in the US when you combine all the spelling variants (Sophia, Sofia). I like Sophia Alexandria and Alexandria Sophia.

It is a classic and very pretty. My friend recently named her daughter this. :)

I think it's gorgeous and sophisticated. It's one of my favorite names and it doesn't bother me that it's popular. Somehow it seems less common than Emma, Mackenzie, and other hip names you hear everywhere.

I think Sophia is a lovely name. The fact that it is so popular irks me though. I think in about 10 years it can be used without problem though, as everyone in her classroom will then have the newest popular or trendy name.

It's ok, but it's way overused.

As a child, I always insisted my future daughter would be called Sophia, nickname Sophie, in honour of Sophie Scholl, who has always been my hero, but it has gotten so unbelievably popular in the last few years, that I don't want to use it anymore. I think it's even worse in Germany than the US. When I look at birth announcements, I swear every second girl either has Sophia/Sophie as a first or middle name. It's getting so tiring! But if you don't mind popularity, it's absolutely one of the best names out there.
