[Opinions] Alexandra or Alexandria?
Just wondering whether you prefer Alexandra or Alexandria and most importantly WHY?
What do you think of Alexandra? Is it too common? How many Alexandras do you know and how old are they? Do they go by Alex or do they have another nickname (Lex, Lexi etc)?
What do you think of Alexandria? Do you like it spelled Alexandrea? Is it too trendy, too common? how many do you know and how old are they? do they go by any nicknames?
Alexandria and Alexandra are both losing popularity. do you think they'll rise again anytime soon?
Do you think an Alexandra or Alexandria could go by her full name or would people always shorten it? Is it too long?

Alexandra
I generally like frilly names, but Alexandria is a bit too much for my taste. I also like the sound of Alexandra better.
I love Alexandra and I would want to use it if I were not so fond of Alexander. It is common on the popularity charts, but I don't know any.
I dislike Alexandrea. It looks too trendy. I don't know any.
I think both names could rise again. It's a classic name and those come back over time.
I think both Alexandra and Alexandra don't need nicknames, nor does any name for that matter. People can always go by their full names if they wish.

I like both about the same. I like how they have tons of nicknames that could be used. I don't know anybody with either name. The closest I know is an Alexa
Alexandra.. good solid classy name, but also has a fun element to it.
Alexandrea doesn't look right as a spelling... Alexandria is better.
no idea what's in other people's heads as far as whether popularities will rise or fall... Never imagined Sophia (basically since I'm not so fond of it and it didn't come to mind as a popular name) would be popular and it's quite high on the overused list in BC right now.

Alexandria and Alexandra are both losing popularity. do you think they'll rise again anytime soon? Im sure because they are classy type names. And those types of names do come and go.
Do you think an Alexandra or Alexandria could go by her full name or would people always shorten it? Is it too long? I think on most occasions she could get away with her full name. But I think her friends and those close to her would call her something shorter do to the length of the names.

Alexandra
I think it sounds strong, while Alexandria sounds overly frilly. Even though I do like the connection to the historical city. But Alexandra also seems more regal, and I just love it!
I don't think Alexandra is all that common. *checks* Oh, it's ranked 49th and has been in the top 100 since the 80's. Well, I don't think I've ever met one (in real life, as I know two from BtN!) There was a girl in the class below me in high school who was named Lexi, and I've known an Alexi and an Alexis roughly my age also. I've also heard mothers call their 10 year olds at the store Lexi, but who knows what it was short for. Never heard of any Alexandrias.
I think an Alexandra could go by her full name. Alexandria maybe, but there is an extra syllable in there. I think she might get called Alex on occassion, but it could be easily corrected.
I love Alex as a nickname though. I always have. It just seems so fresh and lively on a girl, as long as it has a nice feminine name like Alexandra to back it up. I find Alex to be rather plain on a boy though.

I prefer Alexandria. It was my great-grandmother's name and I think the nn Dria is absolutely adorable.
I like Alexandra but I know about 6, four of them in their early twenties and 2 of them under 5. Most of them go by Alex or Ally.
The only Alexandria I know is my great-grandmother who would be very old if still alive. Sandra Dee's real name was also Alexandria I believe.
I think people will always shorten Alexander, Alexandra and Alexandria.

Alexandra. I used to prefer Alexandria, but I think Alexandra is more classic and will age better.
If I was named Alexandra I wouldn't use a nickname. Nicknames ruin the name for me.

Alexandra is a beautiful classic with many fun nns possibilites. Alexandria is gilding the lily to me. Too fussy.
Alexandrea just looks like the parents thought smoshing Alexandra and Andrea together was clever. Ick. Trendoid supreme.
I know one Alexandra who goes by Alex. She's in her 30's. I would happily call her by her full name. In fact I did and she asked me to call her Alex. But I'm the kind of annoying aunt who still calls her adult niece Maureen instead of Mo like everyone else.

I absolutely love Alexandra and can't stand Alexandria. It's just much too "city" for me and seems like an unnecessary elaboration. I also like the common nickname "Alex" and that is what all Alexandras I know go by except for one. She goes by "Lexi".
uahhhh why does everybody think Alexandria is trashy? everybody i know tells me this :( yeah it's a city but I don't mind it because the city was actually named for a person (Alexander) so I don't think it's as bad as Bronx or something like that. hmmmmm maybe it will just stay a middle name. I like Maya Alexandria a lot.
