1. I prefer Sophie. I think Sophia is overused and although it is nice, Sophie is a sweet and simple name.
2. I know more Sophias than I do Sophies. Both are under the age of ten, though.
3. I don't think Sophie is nickname-ish at all and none of the Sophia's I know use it as a nn.
