I rather like the name Cassandra very much. I don't really like any of the Cass- nicknames, but Sandy or Sandra might be nice.
I do not think that Cassandra and Alexandra are that similar. Alexandra has 4 syllables and if the girls are cousins, it shouldn't be too bad.
