[Opinions] Maya, Mary, Sophia or Lily?
These are the only girls names out of the top 100 that I absolutely love. Just wondering which one you prefer and why.
Oh and which one is most and least common where you live? How many do you know by each name and are they mostly younger girls or babies? how do they spell it?

Sophia
I know it's popular, but I love the meaning and I love the sound and I just find it so spunky. It's my cousins name, or I'd have it on my own list. I want to use it as a middle name.
I read the BA's every weekend and I would have to say out of those names I see Lily the most, followed Sophia by then Maya/Maia, and I can't remember ever seeing a Mary as a first name. Western Australian Top 50 baby names has Lily at #11 and Lilly at #32, Sophia at #28 and Sofia at #49. The others dont make the list.
Maya - I don't know any here in Aus, but when I was living in Canada in 2007 we met at least 9 Maya's under the age of 6 (however they spelled it). I kid you not, there was at least one Maya there every time we went out to the park. I was so sick of it after 6 months of living there.
Mary - I know of one little Mary who would be about 2 or 3. Her brothers name is Thomas.
Sophia - theres my cousin Sophia in Canada. Shes 2, her brother is Nicholas. I also look after a little Sophia here. She'd be about 4, her sister is Samara and her cousin is Geoffrey.
Lily - Ella has a Lily in her class, her brother is Angus. Also, my dog is called Lily.

Mary would have to be my favorite out of those because the associations with the Blessed Virgin Mary make it sound gentle and caring to me.
Maya (spelled Maia) is my second favorite. I didn't like it at first because it sounded off to me, but I met a Maia who is very friendly and cheerful and now I like it.
Sophia is pretty, but it is so obviously pretty that it has become a name that is used when people want a pretty name without the effort.
I know that your name is Lily, but that names has never done anything for me.

Lily isn't my real name :P It's along time favorite so I chose it as my user name.
Definitely Maya. Have never been fond of the others... which are more overdone anyway... Mary's meaning is uncertain and might have some ties to Mara, which means bitter.. Sophia's less than attractive to me and way overused... and I've heard about way too many Lilys in the past few years... Maya seems less overdone and a little nicer in sound as well... and you can put kanji with it. *_* (just an added bonus)
Plus on a global scale, there are way too many Marys, Maries and Marias.

I like Mary the best. I've never met a Mary in my entire life. The only ones I know of are Mary of Mary and Joseph and Mary from 7th Heaven.
I know plenty of Sophia's and Lily's. My sister has two friends named Lily and one named Sophie and I went to high school with Sophie's/Sophia's and Lily's.
Maya is pretty uncommon where I live, but I don't like it at all.

I like Mary. It's classic and simple, which I love, and it's suitable for all stages of life.
Sophia (or Sophie) and Maya are the most common for younger girls where I live. I can't give you exact numbers, but over the past 3 or 4 years I've run into several preschoolers with either name.
Mary is probably the most common among the 40+ demographic, but I have seen a couple Marys under the age of 5, and one school aged Mary.
I haven't seen any Lilys that aren't pets.

Mary
It's so simple, pretty, classic, and isn't used very much anymore. I think Lily is pretty too.
I have a friend named Maia, who's 22ish, but she's the only Maia/Maya I know. I know a Mary who's 25ish, and I have a great-aunt Mary who'd be in her 70's. I know I've met plenty of Marys who are middle-aged or older. I've never met a Sophia, but I know a Sophie who's about 19. And I've never met a Lily.

Maya.
In order of preference: Sophia, Lily, Maya, Mary.
Here (Croatia) Mary and Lily aren't used at all, Marija / Maria were popular in the 70s and 80s but are not often used now.
Maja was super popular when I was born (1980s) and there are a ton of them. Sofia / Sofija have only been used with any frequency in the past 10-15 years and I've never met one personally.
