[Opinions] Xanthippe
What are your thoughts on this name? BTN here says it's pronounced either ksahn-THEE-pay or zan-TIP-ee. Which do you prefer?Thank you!

I say it Zan-TIP-ee. The shrewish wife connotations put me off to be honest. I much prefer Xanthe anyway - I was made very happy a few years ago - I met the art teacher in the local school and discovered her name is Xanthe.

I love Xanthippe. Of those two pronunciations, I prefer the first (Ancient Greek). My favorite pronunciation is the Modern Greek, ksahn-THEE-pee.

The first one.

It's nice, but reminds me too much of Socrates' horrible wife and I can't really imagine it on a real child.

I was just thinking of this name actually. It was the name of Socrates's wife. It's okay, but I think I prefer Xanthe. zan-TIP-ee is the better pronunciation, IMO. The first one is just too complicated.

I prefer ksahn-THEE-pay of the two pronunciations. But would have like it even more as zan-thih-PAY. It looks like a good name for a Sci Fi character.
