[Games] Re: LadyBug's Royal Congrats - Round 3
Squint
Country: Vanitano-Umbreca
Royal Surname: von Talvio
King: James Darius Emmanuel Antony Octavian VI (23)
Queen: Violetta Cecilia Melisande Estelle (26)
Princess: Isabel Gervaise Amandine Renate (4)
Princess: Elizabeth Honora Jamesina Isolda (3)
Prince: Christian Konrad Augustin Philippe Aurelius (nb)After three years of trying, King James and Queen Violetta finally welcomed a son. The citizens of Vanitano-Umbreca heralded the arrival of Prince Christian with much fanfare; the boy was a celebrity in his own right. His birth averted almost certain war between the royal family and the Vanitian and Umbrecan nobility, as the latter, no longer willing to patiently stand by for an heir to the throne to be born, had been threatening to overthrow the von Talvios and install one of their own. The birth of Prince Christian tempered the fire and satisfied the nobility back into submission to the crown.Yet the arrival of the long-awaited heir did not preclude conflict elsewhere. Vanitano-Umbreca went to war with the neighboring kingdom of Dorica only days after the queen gave birth. The Dorican king, Everard III, was a power- and land-hungry tyrant who sought to lay the groundwork for an empire by conquering Vanitano-Umbreca. Had he done so earlier, he might have succeeded, since the nobility would have almost certainly sided with him. But he struck too late: the prince and heir was born, and all citizens of Vanitano-Umbreca were staunchly supportive of their king and country. In addition, James was a military genius: he had never expected to become king, and so had devoted his studies to military theory when he was younger. The Vanitian-Umbrecan army was arguably the best in the known world. Everard realized his folly too late, and the Doricans were soundly defeated in a single battle. Dorica became a territory of Vanitano-Umbreca, its citizens assimilated into the Vanitian-Umbrecan population, and Everard executed. With that, Vanitano-Umbreca settled into a period of peace and prosperity.
