The Great Depression struck, and it was a great strain on everybody. Russ is doing the best he can to support his new wife, Daisy, and his soon-to-be-born son, although life on the farm isn't exactly easy when every crop you're planting is drying up quick and fast.
For the ever-growing Timmins Family, it's become harder and harder to keep food on the plates of their six children, especially newborn baby boy Freddie.
Flo and Henry are getting by as best they can. They send out money to their children, when there's some to spare [and there hardly ever is] and they've taken in a few borders to pay the bills.
