Random event for this round: The family plan a summer vacation – where do they go?
Random number for next time (1-12): 6
After a leisurely afternoon strolling through the Central Park Zoo, Avi proposed to Joss at the red panda exhibit using his mother's ring. Elated and excited, Joss accepted, and the two were married less than a month later in a small, traditional Jewish ceremony at a local reform synagogue. The reception, however, was anything but traditional and would remain a legend in their groups of friends for years to come.
Less than a week after returning from a lovely honeymoon in the Bahamas, Joss discovered she was pregnant and promptly freaked the hell out. She had never really planned on having kids, thinking that she would not be a good mother because her own mother had abandoned her as an infant and because she had no experience with how to be a mother.
As ecstatic as Joss was distressed, Avi had to talk his new bride out of neurotic hysterics on an almost daily basis throughout her pregnancy, but it was all worth it when their daughter, Rachael Alice, was born. The girl was an almost eerily quiet baby, with her mother's fiery red hair and father's huge dark eyes. Joss's fears of being a bad mother proved to be unfounded; she loved her daughter intensely and, if anything, was a bit overprotective. Avi, on the other hand, was intent on spoiling his child (and all other to (hopefully) follow) to the best of his abilities.
Avi and Joss continued attending the university and working towards their degrees. In order to gain more experience, Avi was hired on as a teaching assistant, and Joss got a job at a nearby veterinary clinic. Joss's father, Christopher Abbott, moved to New York to provide childcare when the two were in class or at work. He lives a few floors down in the same apartment building with his elderly gray cat, Merlin.
By the time summer rolled around, everyone was a bit worn down and ready for a long vacation. Eager to show his wife and daughter the country of his birth, Avi suggested a two month stay in Israel; as the plans developed, Joss's father decided to join as well, but, after much deliberation, Avi's father decided it would be too painful to return to the country where his wife died.
The long plane ride was a disaster. Rachael cried almost the whole way through. But, once that unpleasantness was behind them, the family enjoyed a long and exciting journey throughout most of the country's major cities and attractions. Joss has decided that they should try to return for summers as often as possible and wants Avi to teach Hebrew to her and Rachael.
