Franklin and Alice were more than surprised to discover they were having a baby. When Alice's pregnancy was announced to the public, Franklin's fanmail address got hundreds of packages filled with all sorts of baby goodies, from clothing to stuffed animals to gift cards to Babies R Us. Some of the clothes and toys were even home made! Franklin and Alice decided to keep the fact that they were having twins secret. Violet Esther was named for Alice's grandmother (Violet) and Franklin's late aunt (Esther). Coralie Edith was named for Alice's sister, Coralie, who passed away as a child and Franklin's grandmother, Edith.
