[Opinions] Maelyn
My brother and his wife just had their second daughter!!!
Maelyn Irene, little sister to Ashlyn JonesWDYT of these names???I HATED Maelyn at first, but loved Irene
However, Maelyn is REALLY growing on me!I like how the name is used in an honoring way.
My sister-in-laws fathers side came from Malin Head in Ireland
So her name is a variation of that. After doing some research I discovered this:"The village name itself pays homage to the Catholic Saint Mary Magdalene, Malin being a medieval diminutive combination of the names Mary and Magdalene. This displays the effectiveness of Saint Patrick’s missionary legacy, spreading Catholicism throughout the whole of Ireland."

Like Maelyn BUT...I prefer it to be spelled May Linn (double first name). It's one of my GP's. =)

I find Maelyn and Ashlyn too close for sisters. I don't care much for Maelyn itself, but you can do worse. I love Irene.

I actually recently met a little girl names Maelyn. I dislike it mainly because of the way it looks. The combination of A and E always bothers me (I am a Latinist, so in my head AE is pronounced like a long I). I would have preferred that they stuck with Malin, which has very interesting roots.

I would have just stuck with the original spelling myself. Yeah, it's tryndeigh, but at least it isn't kre8iv. I also wouldn't have given the sisters rhyming names.
