WDYT? Do you know anything about the history of this name? I heard this was a Canadian spelling..

I don't like this version really - it's OK but it seems a little strange. I prefer Megan and Meganne.

Variant of Megan, I think it looks hideous.
And a Canadian spelling? Since when? I live in Canada and I don't know any Meaghans, just Megan and Meghan.
Meaghan looks awkward, like it should be pronounced Me-ah-GHAN. Even though it's Meh-gen.

This a name database, follow the link to the name Meaghan and read what it says: it's a variant spelling of the name Megan.

Well I know that but it doesn't give any extra information to the variation of Meaghan.

It's just a variant spelling of Megan.

Geez because meanings of names and how they came to be can't have any meaning outside of behind the name.I have read in a book that Meaghan IS a canadianized spelling. It's also used to look more like the traditional spelling, even though I don't like the name as its self. Hope that helps :)

It's not "canadianized"I've seen it plenty of times in the US. It's just a variant. People add letters to names to make them seem unique. And an ugly one at that.

It's not pretty. This name is so tired.

I actually don't like it either. Megan's not great alone and this is overdone.
