It's similar to the German word for "morning" so it makes me think of a new day. It sounds fresh to me, even though it's a bit dated.
I really dislike Megan. It doesn't sound nice at all and in incredibly dated to the 80s. Plus you can spell it a million ways. I especially dislike Meagan and Meghan. I'm also not fond of Meg.
So yeah, Morgan all the way. I like it for both genders.
