[Opinions] Montana
What do you think of Montana for a girl? I think it's kind of cute but fear it might be a bit trendy. Opinions?

I know of a Montana! My co-worker has a nine year old granddaughter named Montana. I was horrified when she told me this. But the girl doesn't have a problem with it. It is way better in the not soooo weird factor because of Hannah Montana believe it or not. She likes to be called Tannie or Tana. I don't completely loath it anymore that I'm used to it but it just doesn't feel and sound right for me...The family is:
Steven and Wendy are the parents of...
Montana (9) and Aspen (6ish)

I don't like it. It reminds me of the Montana from "The Real World", and she was...how should I put this...a loose woman. Not a good association to have.

I don't like it. Most state names other than Virginia and Georgia just sound tacky to me.

No!*facepalm*Did you not take the hint with Cheyenne?

Well, yes I understand that you think it's lower class but while I'm thankful for you being honest and appreciate your opinion, I still don't think I necessarily have to agree with it. You sound as if people weren't allowed to like or shouldn't like names that you think of as tacky or trashy or whatever.

I meant it as a joke.

It didn't come across as one.

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.Absolutely no way. This comes from someone who lives there. It is a hideous choice as a name, and besides being trendy and overdone, your daughter will be Hannah Montana whether she wants to or not. Just don't. PLEASE!

Ditto, andtake a look at CN's sig. That's the sort of image I conjur up in my head when thinking of the name Montana. That, and the underage duck-faced ho Disney's about to drop any second.

"and the underage duck-faced ho Disney's about to drop any second".Whoa, I didn't even think of her for a second. Now that you mention it, ugh. I like the name because it makes me think of mountains and because I like Monty as a nickname. Now it's kind of difficult to get the Hannah Montana association out of my head :/ I wonder if the show will affect the popularity of Hannah.

Trendy? No. I've never heard of it as a name before, just as a state. I'm inclined to think that any name thats of a place is generally a no-no. But thats just me.

So Charlotte?Isn't a good name?I think a lot of places were named after people too. I think place names are fine as names myself; as good a reason for a name as any.I quite like Montana myself!

Right now I wouldn't ever name a baby girl Montana. She would forever be called "Hannah Montana". Why not Dakota? It's a state name like Montana, but not so out there, and is more common as a first name. You could do Kotie or Koda as the NN.

I know one. I like the girl, but not her name.

I think it's okay.
