[Opinions] Agape? (m)
I say it "ah-guh-pay"I initially used it for a character in a story I'm currently writing - she's young, romantic, whimsical, and a bit like a female Puck. Anyway, the more I write her, the more I fall in love with the name, and the more I say it the less unusual it seems...So my questions are:1. What are your initial thoughts on Agape?2. What would you think if you met an Agape?3. What sort of personality do you associate with Agape?4. Do you think Agape is too unusual for present day, or a refreshing change?

1. Reminds me of a church name... and is prn. ah-gah-pay as it comes from Greek... definitely better suited for a girl than a boy... could work... kind of different, but not WAY out there.2. Would wonder which church her family was from.3. perky, friendly, loving, maybe bubbly.4. Could work. Refreshing in that it's different, but sounds like it could actually work as a name.

Wow, I never even thought of the word "agape" ... but then, I've never heard anyone actually use that word. I was thinking of the normal, Greek, name :/

I think it's a bit cheesy.

Out of curiosity, what about the name makes you think it's cheesy?

I really like it, but I would never pronounce it ah-guh-pay. I only like the Greek pronunciation of ah-GAH-pee.2. What would you think if you met an Agape?
I would find it cool.3. What sort of personality do you associate with Agape?
Maybe warm, yet spunky? I'm not sure.4. Do you think Agape is too unusual for present day, or a refreshing change?
I think it works. It seems to be used cross-culturally, which was a bit of a surprise to me.

The fact it's used cross-culturally is no surprise to me because biblical names and words are often used cross-culturally. I know a Jpns. gal named Hosana and an old friend of mine in Canada also has a daughter named Hosanna.

I knew an Agape in school. I always thought it had character, but it is not my style.
