[Opinions] Re: Greek girls names?
in reply to a message by Benet
Well, first of all I'd go through the BtN-list of Greek female names.
Also, you could think of some "international" girl names, like, let's say, Ida, Sofia, Vera, Alexandra, Lea, Nora, Daria, Eva, Elvira, Elisa, Annina, Viola etc. etc. I think they are very nice, and with a very Greek last name they would be even choises I would call interesting. :)This is our list so far, in no particular order;
Airlea Prokris, Kyra Tanis, Dareia Kharis
- These are all very riscful; there are good chances to pronoune or spell them wrong. Dareia is very pretty, though, I'd just work more on it. :)
Aella Photine
- This is kinda problematic as well, but ah so pretty! I love the meaning of Aella.
Lysandra Iole
- The names are maybe kinda steretypic-greek + I'd work more on the combo. I could suggest something like Iole Dareia or Lysandra Photine.
Callidora Ianthe
- :) Also *very* Greek, but sounds brilliant.
Eudora Lyrikos
- I really like Eudora, but I can't really stand Lyrikos. The flow is good, though! :)How about Melia? I really like the meaning, it is Greek, but because of Melissa (and lately Malia) the Americans shouldn't have any bigger problems with her.
Xenia has a lovely meaning and it looks modern but not trendy.
I really like the meaning and sound of Elpida. Not too strange as well. :)
Olympia? Olympos is a Greek association, but the name doen't look too strange or stereotype-Greek.
Katerina? An unknown, yet elegant form of Katherine. Marina is also a good choise - it reminds anyone of sea, and Greece is a country of sea. I think that's a pretty association.
Chrysanthe is pretty and I guess quite workable.
