[Opinions] Duchovny
WDYTO Duchovny for a girl? I know it's pretty ridiculous, surnamey, trendy-ish and the like, but I really love it right now. Do you think it could be useable? Best kept in the MN spot? Or should I just keep it for a character name?If your not so disturbed by the idea, can you think of any first or middle names to balance it out? TIA

I find it weird-sounding.
And I associate it too much with David Duchovny.
No, don't use it.

Sorry but I just find it weird, esp. for a girl.

It sounds awful, makes me think of The X Files.

Uh no....Being a fan of both David Duchovny and The X-Files (it is my all time fave TV show) I am disturbed by this. Every time I hear "Duchovny," I automatically Think David Duchovny and/or The X-Files.But another thing: For a girl?
If anything, it sounds more for a boy, if I thought it could be used as such. Meaning a first name.

It would be pretty nice on a boy, but speaking as one of thousands of X-Philes, the David Duchovny association is stuck. Which wouldn't be a bad thing if it weren't for Mr. Duchovny's recent (rather absurd) scandals.

Uuhhh...:Sings: David Duchovny, why won't you love me Yeah, I'm gonna say that (at this point) there is no way, shape or form in with Duchovny would be useable on anything... Well, maybe a dog... or a gold-fish....Sorry. Some names are just too far gone...

That song was my first thought, too. I didn't mention it though, because I'm pretty sure it's not well known.

Yes, but.... The actor himself is well known, TOO well known.

I'm puzzled about how to pronounce that name. I guess that's why I don't like it.

Try listend here...It is David Letterman introducing David Duchovny:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1uxiEcCd2sYouTube is always useful in these situations. I tried to spell it out, but I failed at it. It didn't look or sound right to me.

I must admit I didn't know that guy. Must be because I hardly ever watch TV. Always happens to me when it comes to celebreties... I must say I really really dislike that as a name!

Nobody would be able to pronounce it, unless they actively thought of David Duchovny, the actor, first, and that would be awful to live with for a little girl. I use to adore him in the X-files as a youngster, and for months I said his name "Dutch-of-nee" until I learned better. I don't think it's attractive enough to be a good girl's name, sorry :(I think it would be most kick-butt for a boy. You could call him Duke for short. And he would rule the schoolyard with fists of iron.

Wow-- Duchovny, nn. Duke, is cool. A bit out there, unless your last name is something like Brown."And he would rule the schoolyard with fists of iron." You're doggone right, he would.
