What do you think of Belinda? Too dated? Any combo suggestions?

I respect our differing opinions but frankly I'm shocked you describe Belinda as "hillbillyish"
As a "hillbilly", this is a name I'd expect to find an urban area or born by some debutante on a rich southern estate - it's fance, in my eyes. As is Beverly.
Bertha and Bessie are definitely hillbilly, but it seems you're group Beverly and Belinda with them simply because of the "be" sound.
Basically, I suppose I'm asking what your reasoning is behind your opinion, out of curiosity, since I just can't see where you're coming from at all.
Also - Bindy, which makes you sound culturally ignorant
I dislike Bindy as well but exactly how does it come off as "culturally ignorant"? Does it hold some old racist or otherwise offensive meaning of some kind?

I have Belinda on my top 10- I think it is so fun to say and makes me think of a very artistic/creative girl- I find it slightly exotic but also wholesome- I find most people I mention it to don't like it but I really do- I'd LOVE to meet a little Belinda.
As for nicknames, I usually only use them when they are the exact first sound of the name- otherwise, I would prefer their full name. So with that reasoning, I would have to choose Belle. Another choice could be Lindy.

Belinda would be my full first name! As my screen name suggests, I go by Belle, exclusively. Bindy would be a family nickname that I'm only fond of for sentimental purposes. Bindy derived from a cousin not that much older than me who couldn't say my full name properly. And it stuck :P.
I don't think my name is dated. I grew up with a ton of Amys and Jessicas, so my name feels a little offbeat to me. People tend to like it, but I receive far more compliments on Belle. There is the occasional Beauty & The Beast reference, but it's a playful, positive thing. Plus I'm a shy, brown eyed brunette bookworm...so it works :P.
Another nickname is also Bella, which I'm called on occasion. I've met three other Belindas in my life (I'm 21), but I seem to be the only one who goes by a shortened version. I see my name here and there, so it's familiar but not overly common. I'm not sure it's everyone's thing, and I went through a period of absolutely hating it (but hey, I was fourteen lol) but I've grown to appreciate it. However, Belinda does feel formal to me. I'm a Belle all the way =).
