It's not that I dislike Dolores, it's just that I really dislike the meaning, "sorrows." Dolly is a traditional nn for Dorothy and Dorothea. Lola, I don't know.
BTW, I once knew a lady at church named Dolores. I was writing her name one day and asked her if it was spelled Dol or Del (which I've seen too). She replied that it didn't matter. Huh? How can it not matter? Apparently, she wasn't sure how it was spelled on the bc. Weird.
