...So I can't say I like the name, and I don't find it aesthetic as a name, but: yes, I think you'd definitely get away with it. If you can call you child Lily or Willow, why not Petal? It's not "bucket" or "trunk", it's a nice thing, so I think it's OK. I just don't find it pretty at all. Oh, and I've never met anyone with this name, but a Petal something was mentioned in Gilmore Girls once, apparently an elderly lady who play golf or so, I don't remember it clearly anymore ;).
