[Opinions] Melrose
What do you think of Melrose as a girl's name? (You'll find it in the submitted names) Melrose is a town in the Scottish Borders where there is a historic abbey, called the most beautiful in Britain. Robert the Bruce is buried in Melrose. And It also has a Scottish Gaelic name - Am Maol-Ros. Admittedly, I've never been to Melrose, but as Robert the Bruce is buried there, I'd like to go someday. I think Melrose is a very pretty name. Do you like it, or would everyone else think it's just a combination of Melissa and Rose?

I've been thinking about it ever since that one season of America's Net Top Model. The runner-up's name was Melrose, short for Melanie Rose I believe. I kind of like it, probably as a name by it's self, not as a nn. Though I do love Melissa and it's hard to turn that down. My philosophy, if you plan on calling her Melrose then name her Melrose. The older generations my link it to Melrose Place, but that's okay.

I think it's lovely. I don't think many people would blink at it, given Paris, Asia, etc.

Sounds like "Melrose Place." I think it sounds a little awkward as a name. Melissa Rose is prettier.

What's "Melrose Place"? *checks Wikipedia* Oh, it's a TV series. I'd never even heard of it before, so I don't think it could be a bad association over here.

Yeah, it was very popular here in the states. If it isn't well known where you live, then the name shouldn't be a problem.
