[Opinions] Katia

I like Katia a LOT. Any way it's spelled... Katia, Katya, Katja. It's a lovely name. I pronounce it the same way you do. I don't think a lot of people would mess it up, but being the name nerd that I am, I could be wrong.

Next to Kathleen and Catharina, it's my favorite Katherine variant. Love it. I slightly prefer Catia, but both are equally as lovely. I pronounce it the same as you. I think people will get it wrong about less then half the time, she'll get a lot of katie-uh, but that's not so hard to correct.
Not sure on middle names, something also a bit exotic would be gorgeous, Katia Seraphine, Katia Elisabetta, Katia Jocosa, Katia Morwenna...

I personally pronounce the first syllable more like cat than kah, but I would adapt if I met a Katia and was corrected. There could easily be pronunciation problems with this name just because many people will see the relation to Katherine and Katie and go with that KA or KAY sound.

I prefer Katya. I pronounce it KACH-ya.
I think people would probably get the pronunciation wrong, if you live in an English speaking country at least. That is because people are so used to the common Katie and would likely start out by saying Katie-uh, as if it is just a new ending on Katie.
However, I think after a while people would get the idea. I don't think that spelling it Katya would necessarily fix the problem but I think it might lessen it.
