I recently read a book called 'The Hunger Games' with an awesome character called Rue.
Other characters were:
Katniss (g)
Peeta (b)
Cato (b)
Clove (g) - I like this one as nn for Clover
Primrose nn Prim

See, it sounds cute and all, and I know it's an herb, but it only makes me think of the word rue. And that's not a great word for a name. You wouldn't want to rue your child. So I think it's best kept for a nickname or middle name.

As long as you stay away from Ally as a MN ;PI don't really like Rue, because to me it's just 'street' in French, not a name. The sound is nice though.

It reminds me of the word "street" in French, or of the old word for sorrow (as in "rueful"). Don't find it verz attractive, really.

Yes, it's all streets to me, as that's what it says on every street sign in my town.
And sorrow, too. and regret, as, "I rue the day I met that guy!"
Although I can see finding it pretty, just by itself.
