I went to school with a girl called Aloisia (nicknamed Lois) - in the UK. As far as I know, it's not a hugely popular name in Europe - she's certainly the only person I know with it.

I never met a person with this name.
I went to university with an Alois and he is the only Alois i know.

Not at all. I have never met an Aloisia in my lifetime. It seems more like an old-woman name to me. It's also not among the top 500 for 2008.

I have no statistics, and I am afraid there are none. But I have lived in this country for 50 years and never once have I come across that name. Alois, yes, though rare, too. There is no St. Aloisia, so no help from that side (unless a girl was named after St. Alois). Unfortunately my digital version of Seibicke's HDV starts with the letter F; this is where you can find examples for the use of the name.
In my imagination Aloisia is a woman between 60 and 90.
