[Opinions] Winifred
Lately, I have found it rather charming. I would have never of thought of it. WDYT? Do you prefer Mildred?

Winifred's in my top 10. I adore Winnie (which I think could work until at least high school) but the possibility of Freda (freeda) really is what thrills me. Mildred is alright, but if I had to choose a way to get Millie, Mildred would not be it. Even if it was a family name (which Winifred is). Millicent, Pomeline & Romilly are my favorite ways to get to Millie. Mildred always makes me think of mildew for some reason. bleh.

I hate it. It's old, it's dusty, and it has the -fred sound in it...just not an appealing name, and I can't picture it on anyone under 80.Mildred isn't any better, I'm afraid. The -dred sound doesn't help, and Millie? Is a boring, bloodless NN. I will never understand why so many people here seem to like it.

I've been obsessing over this name recently too because I adore Winnie but I can't see that nickname on a girl older than 13. Winifred/Winnie I can see on a sweet pretty girl 100+ years ago and aging really nicely. Now I just don't think it would work out as well. I do love it though, just not a realistic pick for me.

I like Winifred very much. It really is charming and a quirky sort of cool. I think it's due for a comeback and that we may see it re-enter the charts someday soon. I strongly prefer it over Mildred...but that's not saying much coming from me since Mildred is one of my least favorite names.

I much prefer Winifred to Mildred, it's one of my favourites. Winifred is really sweet and whimsical and clumsy, and a bit old-fashioned, but Mildred just seems like it's…determined to be all those things. It feels less natural. It's not a bad name, but Winifred is my clear favourite. Also I prefer Ws.

I love both names but slightly prefer Mildred because I love the nn Millie more than Winnie.
