I go exclusively by my first name, Julia. I don't have a nn, and I don't like when people assume that Julie and Julia are interchangeable. They aren't! (yes, I realize that my user-name here has juli in it; it doesn't bother me when I'm online, just in person)

A lot of my aunts and uncles go by their middle names, but I only know the reasoning behind one of them. My uncle William Christopher was born on Christmas day, and so all the nurses started calling him Mr. Christmas, which shortened to Mr. Chris. My grandparents had intended to call him Will, but the nn Chris stuck, so they gave in!
