[Opinions] Aoife or Aoibhe
Which do you prefer; Aoife or Aoibhe?
Aoife used to be my favourite name...until I opened my eyes and saw that if a ever had a daughter and called her that, she'd be Aoife F for all her school life. Aoife really is a very popular name in Ireland. And it sounds like the German pronunciation of Eva, so people might think of Eva Braun, Hitler's mistress. :(
I thought of Aoibhe as a beautiful alternative; it's simple, pretty and not incredibly popular, but it sounds so similar to Eva and Ava, that it might be constantly mistaken for those names. Good points; Aoibhe sounds like many positive words in Irish including "lovely".
WDYT?

The German pr. of Eva is AY-fa, not EE-fa. There are heaps of German girls named Eva and people don't associate it with anything but Adam and Eve (who are called Adam and Eva here).
I'm not exactly sure how Aoibe is pronounced but it's less common which I like and pronounced with the V instead of the F sound, I guess, so it's softer which I prefer.
So my vote goes to Aoibe. How exactly do you say it? AH-va?
