[Opinions] Myrtle
Is this really that bad? I think I would only use it in the middle name slot and I think it's kind of spunky and different. Yes, there is "Moaning Myrtle" and it rhymes with turtle, but that doesn't really bother me. And tucked away in the middle, I doubt it would really be a problem. I've also seen it on a few British BAs. So what do you think? Usuable, or is Myrtle just like poor Lettice and Eglantine?

I think Myrtle would be nice to see on a baby girl today!

I find something comical about it. It makes me laugh. I don't think it's usable, except *maybe* as a middle name, but I think your daughter would be one of those people who are horribly embarrassed by their middle names and go to great lengths to avoid revealing what it is.

This is a wonderful opinion. The things mentioned are unanimous and needs to be appreciated by everyone.Michaelroger85

I find your post somewhat puzzling. "The things mentioned are unanimous"? I presume you mean the statements made by the OP? How are they "unanimous"? Since I myself made it clear in my post that I don't agree with her statements, by definition they are not unanimous. And why do they "need to be appreciated by everyone'? They don't The entire point of an opinions board is for everyone to offer their opinion, which may or may not be in agreement with the OP. You're saying we "need" to agree with her. We don't.

Evidently, since the exact same thing is posted above. I hadn't read that yet when I made my post.

This is my Hubbys grandmothers name. I like it,but I don't think he does.

Especially as a middle name I think it's just fine. I think it would be kind of refreshing to see used anyway. Myrtle was one of my great-great-grandmother's names, and another one's middle name.

I am not a fan of Myrtle I have to say. It would be fine as a middle name I guess.
I have to say I quite like Eglantine - I like the flowers and the Chaucer reference.

Even in the middle name spot, I think it's terrible. It just sounds old and dusty. Kids will discover her MN and STILL make fun of her for it, so NO.

Myrtle would be nice to see, but I don't find it particularly attractive, personally. I prefer the Greek, Myrsine.

Love itI've always thought the sound of Myrtle was just lovely. Like Muriel, Myrtle is so soft and liquid. And myrtle trees themselves are gorgeous. I guess it's the turtle thing that gets most people hung up. I know a little Hadassah who's uner one years old. I call her Myrtle. I don't think her mother (a friend) likes it much. :-)Tucked into the mn spot, Myrtle can't do much harm. But oh, to meet a little fn Myrtle. Now that would make my day.Myrtle Daphne
