I read book of three a few months ago didn't like the book but I LOVE the name Eilonwy. Its pronounced Ll-on-wee right? And the nick name Ellie just fits. Humm Eilonwy Rose Marie is pretty!

Edit: Or is it pronounced like Eleanor with a wee so it would be ella-nor-wee

I love it! I'd pronaouce it ell-ON-wee. But I prefer just Eilonwy Rose, without the Marie.

I don't like it. It looks like letters jumbled together and I've no clue how to pronounce it. Some Celtic names are nice, but I don't get what's so great about names with totally counter-intuitive spelllings and pronounciations.

It's ie-LON-wee. That's how Lloyd Alexander pronounces it, and that's how it would be pronounced in Welsh. I always loved it and the Chronicles of Prydain were probably my favorite books as a kid.

Just the way it looks on a page is very pretty, it kind of evokes willowy and isle.

Lloyd Alexander, the author of the book, used this pronunciation: eye-LAHN-wee.

Personally I guessed that the emphasis would be on the first syllable: EYE-lahn-wee

I rather like how LI-on-wee sounds, but that really requires transposing letters from Eil to Lie, which is just too confusing. If you like the Welsh double-L you could rework it as Llyonwy or Llianwy.
