What do you think of Tamar for a girl?
Noah Tamar? or Noah Sofia?
1. Does it sound incomplete to you (like it's missing the A?)
2. How do you pronounce it? I say tah-MAHR. Do you know what the original pronunciation is?
3. What does it make you think of? I once heard that there was a public holiday that used the leaves of the date palms and girls born on that day were often named Tamar, do you know anything about that?

I think Noah Tamar sounds nicer than Noah Sofia, but I do prefer it as Noa (not that that matters, as that's my personal preference and not yours.)

Not at all. I pronounce Tamara differently, anyway, so they're not even related in my mind.

Tamar is slightly exotic, earthy, but still sweet. I picture a dark-eyed girl with a generous spirit. As for the holiday, I know it's Sukkot, but I don't know much about it.

I actually think that behindthename got it wrong...I'm pretty sure it's Tah-MAHR and when you look at the comments for it you see that many others think so as well...

1. I don't particulary care for it. It doesn't sound incomplete to me, thoug I pronounce it differently.

Alot of Armenian's have the name Tamar.
We pronouce it TAH-Mahr.
