I like it as a first name, yes.
Wow, after all the Louisa comments, I'd say definitely go with your original Louise
At least you know she'd likely be distinct. I tend to trend against the grain (ESPECIALLY with this lot).

I don't like it. I think it is awkward and unappealing...but hey, this isn't going to be MY kid.
Although I prefer Louisa, I like Louise. I think it's very classy and mature sounding.
I don't care for Louise Mae. The flow is choppy and it's all together too similar to Louisa May, as in Louisa May Alcott.

Good point, maybe I should also give her a second middle name as well to avoid it being TO similar
Louisa Mae would have a better sounding flow imo
I think it's a fine name for a child, though it's not my style. Like Chanel, I prefer Louisa (and I think Louisa Mae flows a tad better than Louise Mae).
It would certainly be a unique choice for a first name since it's usually stuck in the mn slot - I only know one person with the name Louise (we call her Lou). She would probably be the only Louise in her class!

I dislike it intensely. The WEEZ sound is very unattractive. It became popular in Britain about thirty years ago, a popularity that was never matched in the U.S. I can only surmise that this is because the British, perhaps, don't pronounce it with the same WEEZ sound that Americans do? But this is only a guess. If they do, then its popularity there mystifies me. I ask you to reconsider this. I'm sure glad that my name is not Louise.
Sorry, but I think Louise is much better than the bad overused names that we find all the time, and it was my grandmothers name and she and I were very close.
