August got married and had two lovely children. He decided to name his son after himself and his daughter honoring his deceased sister. He and his wife decided to move to San Francisco, and after writing about it to his family they wanted to come out too. Henry sold his farm and started working for the newspaper. Effie started school so Roberta got a job of her own, helping out in the sewing store.
